Visiting Barber Vintage Motorcycle Festival
The Birmingham, Alabama, Barber Motorsports Complex is a thing of beauty. The museum, which was first built in 1995, now holds the largest collection of motorcycles in the world. In 2003 the 830-acre Barber Motorsports Park built a 16-turn 2.38-mile racetrack that many of the best in the world have competed on. The combination of the racing and vast number of rare and never-seen-before motorcycles consistently on display categorically makes this Barber a USA-born-and-bred vintage motorcycle mecca.
As you can see by these photos, the Barber Motorsports Complex really is an amazing assemblage of all things motorcycle, and the Festival just keeps adding onto it annually. This year was the 13th annual Barber Vintage Festival. From October 6–8, the event packed in thousands of vintage motorcycle lovers, riders, and racers from all over the world. This year’s festivities included a wall of death, a globe of death, circus sideshows, demo rides, FMX shows, various seminars, a vintage-bike swap meet, and of course some very rousing vintage racing.
From sun up until sundown for 72 hours we were amazed by the amount of unusual and uncommon two-wheeled machines we witnessed both on the track and in the museum.
We highly suggest to anyone who loves motorcycles to take a pilgrimage to the Barber Vintage Festival. You won’t be sorry you did.
