Sixteen years ago when I first entered this industry, the Dyna and FXR sat in the shadow cast by the Softail in the spotlight. Harley-Davidson’s hidden shock hogs were all the rage. It was the Age of the Fatboy and the Deuce. Dynas and FXRs were great if you preferred smoother handling and whatnot. Back then, it seemed most riders put style ahead of ride quality, hence the popularity of the Softy over its smoother cousins.

Just like Darth Vader told Obi-Wan before killing his old master, the circle is now complete; rubbermounts run the roost while Softail iron sits in the backseat. If the shear number of FXR customs making it into magazines these days isn’t proof enough for you, the rise of FXR & Dyna shows should be. Just a few weeks back we hosted one at Vegas Bikefest and Joe Mielke’s FXR Show in Sturgis has really taken off too. Editor bossman Jeff G.
