Horses for Forces
November 14th 2016 marked the 2nd annual Horses For Forces charity run. All the benefit riders met at Bartels’ Harley Davidson in Marina Del Rey for the 10am ride to the infamous Paramount Ranch. The parking lot at Bartels’ overflowed into the street with bikes. Everyone mingled around with excitement as they registered for this worthy cause. Shortly after, the stampede of steel horses was ready to gallop into gear. They were escorted by about nine traffic control officers that held the lights at every intersection. There was even a fueling team with the herd just in case anyone ran dry. The riders’ feet barely grazed the ground the entire way.
The ocean opened up on the left of Pacific Coast Highway sending crisp air and a majestic gaze upon the road. They winded through the hills at a calm and steady pace. The pack of riders was well pronounced and proclaimed a presence with their horsepower. There was an array of motorcycles of every breed. The ranch proved to be the perfect facility for the fundraising festivities. There was a BBQ lunch grilled up by J Wolf catering, entertainment provided by Bo and the Blues Drivers, and several vendors lined up along the grass. Many luxurious prizes were raffled and auctioned off to the highest bidder as people relaxed into the peace of the Agoura hills.
All of the proceeds went to Dream Catcher of Los Angeles-Therapeutic Riding Centers. This foundation provides equine assisted psychotherapy for children, adults, and veterans with cognitive, physical, and emotional disabilities. Executive director Joan Blank and her associates did an amazing job coordinating the event and it was an overall success in every aspect.
