Full Throttle Saloon Engulfed in Fire
Sad news about Full Throttle in Sturgis, South Dakota. The rally staple fell victim to a fire last night. The cause of the blaze is under investigation right now. Over 40 firefighters battled the inferno but a lack of hydrants or other readily available water on-site complicated the problem. Sturgis assistant fire chief Shawn Barrows told The Rapid City Journal that high winds and heat forced firefighters to conduct operations from outside. They eventually cut a hole in the north side of the bar to gain entry.
Fire personnel responded to reports of heavy smoke at 12:30 am. Three hours later, the place was a gutted hulk. Fortunately, no one was hurt.
Full Throttle billed itself as the world’s largest biker bar. In 2009, the venue had its own cable reality series. This story originally ran here.
