The Hippy Killer Hoedown
The Hippy Killer Hoedown seems to be the kick-off event for the SoCal chopper riding season. It’s when everybody from the western half of the United States finally shows up on their bikes that they have been working on all winter. This show was the dream of Hippy Killer Garage’s proprietor and all around good guy Kutty Noteboom, who has been doing the Hoedown now for five years. It’s a one-day show really, but many folks show up the night before to camp out, have a good time, and nurse hangovers all day the next day.
From a show that started out literally in Kutty’s backyard, this year there were hundreds of bikes and thousands of people making the scene at a larger venue and with the world-renowned self-proclaimed “best rock-n-roll band in the world,” aka The Supersuckers, headlining the myriad of bands it was no surprise. Also, there were a ton of vendors hawking all sorts of biker-esque items and various food and drink to keep the event-goers fat and happy all day.
We at Hot Bike really love this event and look forward to it every year. Keep up the good work Kutty, and we’ll see ya in 2014. For more info, check out hippykiller.com. HB
