Freedom Performance Exhaust Install
We all know that our beloved Harleys come from the factory with plugged-up and overly quiet exhausts. Yes, they keep the law off of our backs and keep the tree-hugging hybrid drivers happy, but if your Harley doesn’t sound like a Harley, then you may as well be riding a Goldwing.
Thank god there are a ton of companies that are just as concerned as we are about getting your V-twin–powered machine that sound it deserves. One of them is Freedom Performance. This Southern California–based company has been pumping out some nice pipes for a few years now and when it was time to outfit our ’09 Street Glide with a set of true-dual pipes, we looked no further than Freedom’s American Outlaw Dual system ($1,099). This kit was chosen because of the company’s reputation as well as the system’s sinister looks. The contrasting black and silver of the CNC machined 4-1/2-inch sculpted muffler tips went really well with our stark and sinister black and chrome color scheme. After spending a couple of hours installing this exhaust, it was evident that the quality and ease of fit made these some of the nicest pipes we have ever installed. Once installed, we found the sound of the American Outlaw System to be deep and throaty, but not shatter-the-neighbor’s-windows loud. If you are looking at beefing up the looks and sound of your bagger, check out Freedom Performance and tell ’em we sent ya!
