October 2 is just down the road a piece and the 2018 Hot Bike Tour is coming with it. We’ve been picking the brains of invited builders all this month and now it’s time to look inside the brainpan of Big Al Raposo of Big Al’s Cycles.

What are you currently building?
My tour bike. It’s based on a ’93 FXR chassis.
What was your first bike?
It was a Suzuki JR50 that I got at 3 years old. My first Harley-Davidson was an ’81 FXWG Wide Glide at 15 though.
Al Raposo’s work isn’t all bagger-liciousness. Time to cut loose at the track!

What is your all-time favorite bike?
My all-time favorite? Roland Sands’ No Regrets bike, tied with the Copper Chopper from Jesse James. Both are absolutely great and totally cherry.
Why did you choose to work in the motorcycle industry?
I’ve just been raised around it and developed a passion around it with my dad who was always into Harley-Davidson. He’s worked for the company and always been around them. That passion was instilled from him.
What do you think the future of the motorcycle industry is?
I believe the future is with the kids. It’s critical to get younger kids into motorcycling; to inspire them to ride.
What inspires you?
My family and my business and the people who believe in me.
