Here's the '09 Dyna Street Bob after the operation.
Our long-term Street Bob project bike is coming along nicely. In Vol. 42 No. 2 we installed Harley's Vintage Brown Leather saddlebags, seat, and pillion pad to make longer hauls and weekend trips that much more enjoyable and stylish.
To aid in the comfort department even more, we've wanted to convert the mid controls with Harley's forward control relocation kit since it relocates your foot positioning about 12 inches forward. And since we like to stretch out, we placed the order for a black forward control kit (also available in chrome) and for a bit of contrast Harley's new Silencer Collection pegs ($79.95), grips ($79.95), shifter peg ($18.95), and brake pedal pad ($29.95) were also added to the shopping cart. The Silencer Collection's electroless-nickel-plated metal provides the raw, hot-rod look we were after. The grips will fit '96-later VRSC, XL, XR, Dyna, Softail, and '96-'07 Touring models. The pegs work with most H-D male-mount style footpeg supports (except the rider position on '07-later XL883L, XL883N, XL1200N, '08-later XR, and '08-later FXCW/C models).

The bulk of the parts for this project consisted of the forward control relocation kit, the Silencer Collection grips, pegs (for rider and passenger), shifter peg, and brake pedal pad, the passenger peg mounting kit, hardware, and more.
Obviously to go with the passenger pillion pad we needed to install passenger pegs. We ordered up the wrinkle black passenger footpeg support kit ($69.95, also available in a chrome version for $129.95). The kit fits all '06-later Dynas. To match the Silencer Collection rider footpegs and grips we ordered another set of Silencer footpegs for the passenger mounts.
After seeing the '10 Fat Boy Lo's Satin Chrome engine trim and covers, we wanted to see how that finish would look on the stock '09 Street Bob's grey powdercoated engine/primary/trans components. We ordered the Satin Chrome primary cover ($299.95), cam cover ($118), and trans cover ($89). They'll fit all H-D 96ci Twin Cam models and give you a much-needed edge among your peers.
We headed to the Harley-Davidson Fleet Center in Carson, California, where Technician Todd Canavan performed the install. If you're going to attempt this project at home, Harley provides a thorough set of installation instructions, but you should have a service manual at your side for reference if needed.
