H-D's Electronic Control Module (ECM) is located either under the seat or behind the chassis side panel. Look-up tables, also known as maps, are stored in the ECM for a specific engine combination and are used to provide the correct fuel delivery under various engine settings and weather conditions. Once the engine is upgraded with exhaust, cam, head porting, displacement, and other modifications, the map must be updated for the new parts combination. View Related Article
