Lee Wimmer, President of Wimmer Custom Cycle stated, “Now, more than ever, the consumer is shopping for the best price and we have found that having a distribution price level makes the MSRP too high. We want all the dealers that have purchased from Drag in the past to know they will be approved dealers directly with us with a minimum of paperwork. We are also creating better dealer sales incentives to deal directly with us. We will still offer the great factory technical support and will continue making the best intakes the market has to offer. Please continue to monitor our web site wimmermachine.com for all the new parts, information and specials we are offering. We are also pleased to announce that we have relocated our sales and distribution facility to Harleysville, PA. (all phone numbers are the same) along with supporting sales and service in Murrells Inlet, SC.”

For further information on this announcement, please contact Wimmer Custom Cycle directly at 1-866-Hot Cycle (1-866-468-2925) and 215-721-4160.

While the museum’s new location will remain in Anamosa, the venue’s new address has yet to be disclosed. Museum officials stated that it will be a much larger facility and will better house the motorcycles and historical artifacts the museum has in its possession. “I want to take the Museum to the next level. Plans are still in the early stages, but we will be moving to a better, larger structure still in Anamosa, Iowa. The new space will allow us to present our collection of over 225 motorcycles and thousands of great pieces of motorcycling memorabilia in a much more exciting way,” said John Parham, president of the National Motorcycle Museum.
Parham was also excited to announce the addition of Mark Mederski, who will serve as the special projects director for the National Motorcycle Museum. Mark has over 20 years experience in museum design and marketing and will be in charge of the elaborate project to refit a building twice the size of the current space, produce the exhibition designs and oversee reinstallation of all of the exhibits the Museum has. “I see this as the best opportunity I’ve ever been offered to work with a fantastic permanent collection, a perfect piece of architecture and with a great team lead by John Parham.” Mederski offered, “If you have a passion for great old motorcycles, and related materials, and the interesting stories of the people that invented, rode and raced them, we will deliver an exciting, yet educational experience.”
In the meantime the Museum will remain open at its current location until further notice. Not even a torrential downpour, gale-force winds and fierce hail could stop the high octane competition as the 2nd annual Baker Burnout Drags kicked off a night of righteous fury and rubber burning fun before rockers Buckcherry took the stage at the Legendary Buffalo Chip, Sturgis, SD. Big thank-you’s go out to the folks at the Legendary Buffalo Chip for hosting this night of chaotic, tire-melting fun! The format was merely this: The first one to shift to a 5th gear burnout wins the heat, and moves onward, in a bracket style format. Twelve contenders in all, competing in the half-hour, energy-filled tournament; this brave dozen in the contest were prominent bike builders and industry folk (special thanks to those who dove in at the last minute to fill spaces that were backed out of by others!): in no particular order

The Master of Ceremonies for the evening was none other than Mr.Roadside Marty, and the guest judges were Scott Lerg and James Simonelli: two of Baker’s finest sales and tech guys. The bikes the contenders used were of every flavor from drag bikes racing bobbers, choppers vs. baggers competing against radical customs. The men and women in pits gave it their all on these bikes, some of them after riding out in a massive hail storm to the Chip just for our event! The primal energy and the spirit of competition filled the smoky air as the victor was determined in the end: Ken Wolfe from S&S was named the Baker Burnout King 09. Ken joined the competition the day of, to fill a space left open by another competitor needing to back out due to an emergency. The final race was between Bill Dodge and Ken and it was a close match – needing to be called on the best of three! What a close outcome! Ken won $1000 gift certificate to Baker Drivetrain for his victory. Avon Tyres displayed a monumental gesture of generosity by offering replacement rear tires to the competitors.

Bill Dodge: defending Baker Burnout King 2008 – Blings Cycles

Jerry Covington – Covington Cycles

Athena “Chickie” Ransom – Vagabond Choppers

Paul Wideman – Bare Knuckle Choppers

Laura Klock – Klock Werks

Kevin “Teach” Baas – Baas Metalcraft

Bean’re – Biker Gypsy

Ken “Wolfey” Wolfe – S&S

Pat Patterson – Led Sleds

Randy Winchel – Framelock

Dar Holdsworth – Brass Balls Bobbers and Choppers

John Schope – Sinister Choppers

(August 23, 2009) – Screamin’ Eagle/Vance & Hines rider Eddie Krawiec won his fourth NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle event of the season and clinched the number-one spot in the Full Throttle Countdown to the Championship playoff series at the Toyo Tires NHRA Nationals on the Maple Grove Raceway. Krawiec, the defending NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle champion, rode his Harley-Davidson V-Rod past MPR/Damn Sports Suzuki rider Michael Phillips in the final round of eliminations.

Krawiec has secured 30 bonus points for being the top qualifier for the Countdown. There is still one event – the Mac Tools U.S. Nationals at Indianapolis on Labor Day weekend – on the regular-season schedule before the playoff series begins.
“This means we can go to Indy with no pressure,” said Krawiec. “I went out in the first round there last year, and this time I want to try and win it for the Screamin’ Eagle team.”
Krawiec was the number-four qualifier for the Reading event, with a elapsed time of 7.041 seconds. Screamin’ Eagle/Vance & Hines rider Andrew Hines qualified fifth at 7.042 seconds. Hector Arana used a 6.986 ET to claim the top qualifying position.
The start of the Pro Stock Motorcycle eliminations was delayed by more than three hours due to water seeping through the track surface as it was warmed by bright sun after several days of rainy weather. Hines was eliminated in the first round when his 6.979-second ET was not enough to overcome a 0.128-second reaction time at the start, and the 0.016/7.048 pass of Rocklin Motorsports Buell rider Matt Guidera.
“My motor function was off,” said Hines, who remains a solid second in season points. “I saw the yellow and my brain reacted, but my hand did not release the clutch lever. It’s something that has happened to me in the past. By the time I realized what was going on and let go of the lever, Guidera was gone. I’m just going to move on and set my sights on doing well at Indy.”

Krawiec defeated Kendall Suzuki rider Wesley Wells in the first round, posting a 6.970-second ET that would stand as the quickest Pro Stock Motorcycle run of the weekend. Krawiec advanced to the finals when his next two opponents, Guidera and Arana, fouled at the starting line. Krawiec defeated Phillips 7.138 to 8.153, to take his fourth win in eight final-round appearances this season.

After the Reading event, seven Pro Stock Motorcycle riders have qualified for the 2009 Full Throttle Countdown to the Championship. Guidera will join Krawiec, Hines, Arana, Matt Smith, Doug Horne, and Craig Treble, each of whom qualified at previous events. Only the top 10 points earners in the class will take part in the five-event Countdown playoffs, which begin at the North Carolina Nationals on Sept. 17-20. Those final three Countdown qualifiers will be determined at the next event on the NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle schedule, the Mac Tools U.S. Nationals, Sept 2-7, at O’Reilly Raceway Park, Indianapolis, Ind.

After 11 events on the 17-race 2009 NHRA Full Throttle Pro Stock Motorcycle schedule, Krawiec leads the series with 1,026 points. Hines is second with 837, followed by Arana with 722, Smith with 668, Horne with 685, and Treble in fifth place with 673 points.

Judge Robert Burger also ordered Lane's drivers license suspended for life and that he undergo random drug and alcohol testing upon his release from prison. Lane, 39, faced up to nine years in prison after a judge in June OK’d a plea deal in which prosecutors agreed to drop a charge of DUI manslaughter in connection with the Labor Day 2006 crash. Lane, choking back tears, spoke on his own behalf starting at about 10:30 a.m. He said he takes full responsibility for Morelock's death. "I was very careless. I was a less-responsible citizen," Lane said. "I'm not looking for pity on myself. I drive by the spot where I killed Jerry Morelock every day. I pray to God for his soul and for his family."
"Whatever you decide today judge . . . I hope you'll look at Mr. Morelock and myself and make a fair decision." Police said Lane’s blood-alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit when he crossed a double-yellow line to speed at 68 mph past three cars on State Road A1A south of Melbourne Beach. He crashed his Dodge pickup head on into 56-year-old Morelock’s small Yamaha motorcycle. Lane's attorney, Greg Eisenmenger, argued for a non-prison sentence, saying making restitution to Morelock's family outweighed the need for jail time. Morelock’s brother and nephew told the judge Gerald Morelock loved kids and would have wanted a positive resolution. They asked Burger to impose a sentence that would require Lane to use his celebrity to help save the lives of young people. But the judge sided with prosecutor Tom Brown who said a non-prison would have sent the wrong message that fame and money buys freedom. In arguing for the maximum sentence, Brown pointed out a number of speeding violations and a pattern of bad driving habits on Lane’s driving record. Though there were no DUIs on Lane’s record, Brown said his record of speeding showed the 2006 crash was not a one-time event, but showed a pattern that could have and would have and did have deadly consequences.
