Custom Chrome (CCI) has been serving the industry as one of the largest independent suppliers of aftermarket parts and accessories for Harley-Davidson and custom V-Twin motorcycles for 40 years. To help commemorate this historic anniversary, CCI tapped two well-respected local builders to use the CCI catalog to create two bikes. Kirk Taylor of Custom Design Studios in Novato, California and Cole Foster of Salinas Boys located in Salinas, California, each built a bike to represent Custom Chrome's 40-year history. Cole built a '70s era raked out chopper with a Paughco rigid frame and Springer, Jammer Shovel style engine and 16/21 inch star hub wheels to represent CCI's early years. Kirk handled the other half of CCI's history by showing what can be done with a late-model bagger. Kirk cleaned up the lines of the bike, made some engine mods, added some new components as well as his own twists, and then laid down one of his flawless paintjobs. From the Editor: In Vol. 41 No.13, I wrote my editorial about watching an online video of a resilient and steadfast Emma Lujan, owner of C&E Auburn V-Twin, in Auburn, California, as she was being interviewed by a local news reporter while rubble of the showroom of her motorcycle business smoldered in the background. Emma was determined to bring the business back to the tight-knit community this past October Emma and her husband Carlo re-opened, operating out of their service center located directly behind where their showroom used to stand. Having lost most of their photos in the fire, Emma and Carlo have put a call out asking if anyone has any photos of them at the races or riding. On a side note, if you've never ridden the Sierra Nevada foothills of Auburn/Grass Valley, and the surrounding areas you are missing some of the best riding and backroads Northern California has to offer. High Five S&S Cycle would like to congratulate Hector "The Hammer" Arana for an impressive year at the NHRA. Hector rode his S&S powered motorcycle to five number one qualifying times, five final rounds, five NHRA Pro Stock wins, and at press time was sitting on top of the Pro Stock ladder race for the championship with 2,420 points. You Will Be Missed
The motorcycle industry lost one of its icons this past July when Bruce Rossmeyer was killed in a motorcycle accident on his way to the 69th Annual Sturgis Rally. Bruce was 66 years old. Aside from his amassed Harley-Davidson Dealership empire of 15 dealerships and stores across the country, including the worlds largest dealership to-date the 109,000 square-foot Destination Daytona, Bruce was just as involved in charitable work as well. A very respected philanthropist both in and outside the motorcycle industry, Bruce was heavily involved with a wide assortment of charitable organizations, and was a founder and served on the Board of Directors of Camp Boggy Creek, served on the Board of Directors for Boys & Girls Clubs of Volusia/Flagler Counties, and was a major player in the fundraising efforts for the Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital as well. He was also Co-Creator and Sponsor of the VQ Bikers Ball held during Daytona Bike Week, and was held solely responsible for creating the Bike Week party on Beach Street where his Daytona Harley-Davidson shop is located. Bruce is survived by his wife Sandy, five children and nine grandchildren. Bruce will be greatly missed by those who knew him and even those who didn't know him but were affected by his generosity.

Carlisle Bike Fest was home to the Garage-Girls Ultimate Biker makeover sponsored by GEICO where the Girls got a chance to give back to a couple of "average Jills" on Saturday July 18. The winners Kristen Buckley, of Red Lion, Pennsylvania, and Victoria Kriner-Aversano, of Myerstown Pennsylvania, were chosen from four finalists. Both women received personal makeovers, head-to-toe riding gear, and a host of other prizes. For the grand prize, Victoria's bike got "hooked up" with a ton of parts such as a new seat, speakers, spoked wheels, and some pinstriping. Seeing the finished product was an emotional experience for Victoria, who became slightly tearful as the bike was unveiled and called the prize a blessing.
