About a-year-and-a-half ago I got a hold of a LoadAll V3 ramp for my '95 Chevy pickup. And while I hate to admit that I've had to haul my bike in the bed of my truck, I am happy to report that my friends and neighbors seem to have taken a better liking to me over the past year. No longer am I knocking on my neighbor's door at 6 a.m. asking for him to give me a hand loading a bagger into the bed of my truck. And as for my friends, well, I've become sort of like an emergency motorcycle towtruck operator, picking up stranded bikes off the roadside.
The LoadAll V3 consists of a sliding and folding base, with an inner ramp that slides in and out of the base and folds out to the ground. To support the extended ramp, two adjustable legs are quickly and easily secured to the ramp. The system is constructed of heavy-duty aluminum and the ramps feature a ribbed-like surface to provide solid traction. The entire setup measures 48.75 inches wide to fit between the wheel wells of a truck bed and is available in a variety of lengths to fit various truck beds. When not in use the ramp systems completely folds up so that you can close the tailgate and still use your truck bed for normal hauling.
One of the most useful things I have found with the system is that when hauling a bike, it extends out to the end of the tailgate, essentially creating a long bed setup that fully supports the longest of choppers.
The best thing about the ramp system is that it is wide enough and sturdy enough that I can safely and easily load and unload heavy baggers by myself just by riding or walking the bike up and down the ramp. One person loading/unloading is made especially easy with the use of a wheel chock, like a Condor unit, which helps hold the bike upright while you secure/unsecure the bike. Another benefit I found is that I was able to "help" my friend haul one of his quads out to the desert for a weekend of four-wheel mischief.
Aside from being easy to use, the LoadAll was also easy to install, all it took was drilling a couple of holes in the bed to secure the base. The hardest part was lifting the base and then the ramps into the bed, as they are a little heavy and require at least two people to handle. And while I haven't needed to, it's pretty easy to completely remove the system from the truck bed; however, once again it takes more than one person.
While the LoadAll V3 maybe a little pricey for most people, pricing starts at about $2,100, it's very well made, extremely easy to use, and over the course of time the system helps pay for itself in safety, security, convenience, and peace of mind.
