2011 Daytona Beach Bike Week

Every year, the fine folks of V-twin land flock to the shores of Daytona Beach, Florida, for one kickass shindig, which pretty much sets the tone for the year of rallies to come. This year’s Bike Week took place March 4-13, 2011, and we were on hand to capture the mayhem that ensued. It didn’t disappoint in the slightest.

“Do you know where Gwar is playing?”

There are plenty of things going on throughout the week to keep your ADD in check. From the motorcycle peacocking down on Main Street, to the vendors and cool customs at Bruce Rossmeyer’s Destination Daytona, to the Harley and Victory demo rides at the Daytona International Speedway. Speaking of the Speedway, aside from taking in the sophmore year of the Vance & Hines XR1200 racing series inside the Daytona International Speedway, there are plenty of custom parts vendors and custom bike builders set up to field questions outside the track in the parking lot. You’d also find aftermarket parts along Beach Street, at Destination Daytona, and for the DIY guy, the Limpnickie Lot. The Limpnickie Lot is comprised of garage-type builders from a younger generation. Every year, the Lot sets up shop at a skateboard park, which more or less juxtaposes Limpnickie’s philosophy: do-whatever-the-hell-you-want-and-have-a-blast-doing-it! There is always so much to do during Bike Week, you won’t be disappointed.

If you didn’t make Bike Week this year, you’re just in time for Daytona Beach Biketoberfest, which takes place October 13-16, 2011. Biketoberfest is a scaled-down, weekend version of Bike Week without skimping on the fun. If you’re going to be at Bike Week 2012, just look for a HOT BIKE shirt running around and say hello.
