Motorcycle Submissions - Readers' Showcase

By Ernie Lopez

Attention Hot Bike Readers! We would like to start by asking you, the reader, to help us with your ride submissions. There is no shortage of Readers' Rides coming across the editor's desks; however, only about 1/4 of them can be used. The reason: bad photos, little or no info about the bike, and even worse, no contact info to get better photos or the needed bike specs. So before you put a stamp on that envelope or send out that e-mail, make sure that you have filled out the basics: Your name, phone number and/or e-mail, where you're from. Then fill out a spec sheet--all you need to do is copy the info from the magazine: Motor, tran, frame, wheels, and so on. Last, a brief history about you and your bike. Now that you know exactly what we're looking for, we can't wait to see what you're going to send in. Thanks!

Readers Showcase 1996 XL 1200

Low With Lots Of Go
Rich Dillenbeck, from Windsor, New York, was looking for a bike he could rip in and out of traffic with ease. The day he saw a guy on a Sportster flying past cars was the day he knew what bike to get. Rich hunted for weeks until he found this `96 XL1200. It was set up the way he wanted "low with lots of go," it had all the things he was looking for on the bike already. He just added a set of pipes then ditched the gauges. Rich said, "if you need to know how fast you're going you shouldn't own a Harley."

Readers Showcase 2004 Fat Boy

50th Birthday GiftFor his 50th Birthday Ray Gill bought himself a '04 Fatboy. He had always wanted a Harley but felt he was not ready for the Big Twin lifestyle. For a used bike the Fat Boy was in great shape but just needed a few things to make it fit Ray better like a new seat, different risers, and a windshield. Ray knows buying the bike was only the initiation fee, but he hopes to add and change things for 50 more years.
