Hooligan Flat Track Racing // IV League Del Mar Finale
The IV League Flat Track series Del Mar Finale took place March 19 to record breaking spectator attendance. No doubt spurred on by the free Indian Motorcycle Scout Sixty that was given away at the end of the night to anybody that came through the event gate! Right on Indian!!
Hooligan racing is flat track class for street based motorcycles. Predominantly American V-Twins from Harley-Davidson and Indian Motorcycle.. Easy and economical to get into, Hooligan racing has grown by leaps and bounds in the last year or so with corporate involvement from Indian and Harley-Davidson.
Always a fan favorite at whatever flat track event they race at, the finale at Del Mar was no different. A stacked field of over 30 of the best Hooligan racers in the country attacked the dirt oval inside the Del Mar arena.
Perennial front runner Chris Wiggins racing for The Speed Merchant took a big win. Chris got a fantastic jump off the starting line with the infamous “Rusty Butcher” a.k.a. Mark Atkins in tow.
Chris pulled out a commanding lead and never looked back until the checkered flag. Chris has a smooth unassuming style that doesn’t look too dramatic but his speed and race leading will tell you otherwise.
Along with the racing and the Indian Scout Sixty give away, there was a long jump competition, A “Junk Yard Build-Off”, Motorcycle racing legend Malcolm Smith doing a book signing and an amazing band compromised of pre-teenage kids kicking out the jams. IV League Flat Track always has a slew of entertainment lined up for their events and this one might have been the best one yet!!
