It’s that time of year again to say out with the old, and in with the new; well sort of. Aside from the 2013 Harley Davidson CVO Break Out () there are no new models for 2013. Instead Harley-Davidson decided to take some time to reflect on it’s history with the 110th Anniversary Editions. Models includ the 1200 Custom (limited to 1,500 bikes worldwide), Super Glide Custom (1,450), Heritage Softail Classic (1,900), Fat Boy Lo (1,750), Road King (1,750), Electra Glide Ultra Limited (3,750), and the Tri Glide Ultra Classic (1,450). Each bike will be numbered and plated to reflect its model standing.
Along with the seven models bearing the tan and brown paint schemes with bronze-plated antiqued patina badges to be released, there is a host of official anniversary contest and activities. For starters, limited edition jackets are going to be given to 110 specially chosen riders who submit videos on why they ride. There will also be a contest featuring an official see through 110 logo where customers will be able to submit their own photos and video, which will eventually be used in a TV spot titled “One Ride.” August 30th officially kicks off the North American festivities at the H-D Museum. Other world-wide launches will follow including a ride next summer in Rome that includes a bike blessing by the Pope himself! Harley is also expanding its line of factory custom motorcycles for 2013. The Street Bob received the most amount of optional colors and accessories using the H-D1 portion of it’s website. Everything from handle bars, seats, foot controls, wheels, paint and powertrain are all available to be mixed and matched for a truly personalized bike straight from the factory. Most exciting is the Hard Candy Custom (HCC) line of products that include five models with a classic big flake finish reminiscent of paint jobs past. And trust me, the flake ain’t fake as the paint jobs include up to eight layers of paint and clear coat, factory installed with the all important factory warranty. The HCC line will also spill over to the parts, accessories and merchandise to finish the look both on and off the bike.
Whether it’s celebrating the past with the 110 anniversary and HCC collections or moving towards the future with all the H-D1 customs, 2013 is the year of infinite style.
