2017 Biker Fest | Italian Bike Week
The 30th Anniversary of Biker Fest was held May 19-22, 2016 and this year it’s back for May 18-21. Held in Northeast Italy, in the resort area of Lignano Sabbiadoro, on the Adriatic Riviera, the event is also known as “Italy’s Daytona.” Last year the Italian Bike Week event drew a reported 50,000 people over the multi-day affair, who indulged in custom bike shows, demo rides, stunt shows, enduro racing, scrambler challenge, the Great Motorbike Parade on Saturday evening, and a classic American car show and cruise on Sunday.
The main activity is at the Luna Park event area with vendors and entertainment, the main stage had a pin-up girl contest, entertainment all day, and live music into the night. The large parking lot was jammed with bikes, and a motorcycle freestyle stunt show smack-dab in the center of it. Adjacent to the bike lot was a motocross track, with a plethora of participants ripping it up, adding even more ambiance to the event. A short walk down the block was a demo-ride area with factory OEM sponsors showing their wares and offering free test rides of the latest models.
A couple kilometers down the peninsula, the AMD World Championship custom bike show was held last year on a covered pier extending across the beach into the sea. Even with Biker Fest going on, the idyllic seaside area with pine tree-lined parkways and wide sand beaches, has a relaxing air about it and is worthy of a visit – if not for the biker scene – the food! It is Italy after all…
